How does a curious student become a scientist? For UL Research Institutes, we helped turn that question into a series of personal stories, connecting the work of safety science with the people who chose to pursue it.
The films move between conversations, research environments and memories of life before a career took shape. Childhood photographs and animation sit alongside contemporary interviews, making room for unexpected turns, early interests and the people who made a difference along the way.

Synchronous brought together story development, direction, production and post-production. A consistent visual approach gives the series a shared identity, while each episode stays close to the character and experience of its subject.
Published through Xplorlabs, the four current profiles introduce students to different ways into science, spanning materials discovery, fire research and education. The aim is to make those possibilities feel personal and within view.
