Chicago Eco House, located in the heart of the Chicago neighborhood of Englewood, is finding innovating ways to empower students to pursue careers in STEM.
While tutoring in Chicago, IL, Quilen Blackwell noticed the challenges of inner city poverty and how it can directly affect young people living in the Chicago neighborhood of Englewood. In 2014, he set out on a mission to incorporate STEM and small business skills in youth learning. Thus, Chicago Eco House was born in 2017 and has been expanding their family since. With hands-on lessons in urban agriculture, renewable energy, and economic community development, Eco House is setting the pavement for empowering students to see hope and positivity in the work they do every day. And they're just getting started. - NAAEE
